Buttock implants

Buttock implants increase the volume and projection of the buttocks, with one implant placed in each buttock, and improve their proportions and contour. Dr Manon Belhoste performs this procedure in Marseille, for €6,500 to €8,000.

The procedure

Dr Manon Belhoste places buttock implants when the available fat is insufficient, or when the projection sought cannot be achieved with fat alone. One implant is placed in each buttock, most often between the muscles, through an incision in the fold between the buttocks. The volume of the implant is chosen during the consultation, depending on body shape and tissue quality.

Frequently asked questions

Buttock implants give a more predictable increase in volume than fat, particularly when the available fat is insufficient. Other options exist: no procedure, liposuction alone to change the proportions of the silhouette, fat grafting alone, or a combination of the two techniques. In cases of significant sagging (ptosis), a buttock lift may be more suitable than enlargement alone.

Before buttock implant placement, Dr Manon Belhoste examines the silhouette and the buttocks, and takes medical photographs. No medicine containing aspirin should be taken in the 10 days before the procedure, unless medically advised otherwise, and anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs are never stopped without medical advice. Treatments, allergies, and medical and surgical history must all be reported. Stopping smoking and all nicotine is strongly recommended before and after the procedure, to limit healing and infection complications. The fasting instructions given by the anaesthesia team must be followed. Finally, arrangements must be made for getting home, the help needed and the positional restrictions of the first weeks.

After buttock implant placement, swelling, bruising, tightness and pain in the buttocks are usual at first. Movements, prolonged sitting and exertion of the gluteal muscles are limited during the initial healing phase, while walking is encouraged early to reduce the risk of blood clots.

Implants allow a more predictable increase in volume when the available fat is insufficient, or when the projection sought cannot be achieved with fat grafting alone. The choice is made during the consultation, depending on body shape, tissue quality and the volume sought.

A buttock implant is a foreign body. It may need a further procedure during life in case of complication, displacement, wear, rupture or a wish for change.

Additional fat grafting may sometimes be combined with buttock implants, to improve the contours or to conceal certain limits of the implant.

The price of buttock implants includes Dr Manon Belhoste's fees, follow-up consultations after the operation, anaesthesia, the implants and clinic fees at Polyclinique La Phocéanne or Clinique Phénicia.
