Laser treatment
Laser treatments address a range of skin concerns, including redness and small blood vessels, pigmentation spots caused by the sun, hair growth and certain irregularities in skin texture. The type of laser, its settings and the number of sessions are adapted to the area, skin type and the intended goal. Dr Manon Belhoste performs laser treatments in Marseille, from €30 to €430.

The procedure at the practice
Dr Manon Belhoste offers various laser treatments. The areas treated and the type of laser used are decided during your consultation, based on the colour and nature of the lesion, your skin quality, your skin phototype, any treatments already carried out and your expectations. The number of sessions and the spacing between them are decided in the same way, depending on the indication and how the skin responds to treatment. Students have access to a dedicated pathway for laser hair removal.
Vascular laser
Treats certain superficial redness and vascular lesions, including small visible vessels on the face, couperose and some localised redness.
€90 to €180
Pigmentation laser
Treats certain pigmentation spots caused by the sun, in particular solar lentigos on the face, hands, décolletage or other exposed areas.
€100 to €250
Hair removal laser
Gradually reduces hair growth by targeting the pigment in the hair. It can be used on different areas of the face and body, in women and men alike. Alexandrite, Nd:YAG or pulsed light.
€30 to €430
Origin laser (Erbium glass)
Gradually improves skin quality and texture through dermal stimulation. It can be used for uneven texture, stretch marks, certain superficial scars and acne scars, pores, melasma and some signs of skin ageing.

Procedure details and recovery
Dr Manon Belhoste performs laser treatments at her practice, 1 Boulevard Lord Duveen in Marseille. These are not operations: there is generally no admission to a clinic and no anaesthetic consultation.
| Aspect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | None in most treatments. A numbing cream or local anaesthesia may be offered, depending on the laser, area and sensitivity. |
| Session duration | Varies by laser and area treated, generally from a few minutes to about an hour. |
| Getting back to normal activities | Varies by treatment. Immediate return is generally possible after hair removal laser and some vascular treatments. Return to social life may take a few days after certain pigmentation or resurfacing treatments. |
| Sensations during the session | A feeling of warmth, prickling or snapping on the skin may be felt. A cooling system may be used, depending on the laser. |
| Immediate recovery | Redness, warmth, slight swelling or sensitivity may occur. After a pigmentation laser, spots may temporarily darken before lightening. After an Erbium glass laser, redness and warmth may last a few hours to a few days, depending on the settings used. |
| How the effect builds up | Gradual. Depending on the indication, improvement may appear within a few days to several weeks, and continue to develop over months. |
| Number of sessions | Varies by indication, laser, area, skin response. Hair removal generally needs several sessions: only hairs in some growth phases respond. |
Frequently asked questions
Lasers can target different structures of the skin with great precision: some target pigment, others target blood vessels or the hair follicle, while dermal stimulation lasers work on skin quality and texture. Results vary depending on the indication, skin phototype, area treated and settings used. The limits: no laser can guarantee the complete disappearance of a lesion, perfectly even skin, permanent hair removal or complete rejuvenation. Several sessions may be needed, and some lesions or indications may require other care.
Before laser treatment, Dr Manon Belhoste needs to know your medical history, treatments and any recent care. Recent sun or UV exposure may rule out or delay certain laser treatments because of the risk of burns and pigmentation problems. Use of self-tanning products must also be reported. Any active infection, inflammation or skin lesion on the area to be treated must be reported. Certain medicines, in particular those that increase photosensitivity, must be mentioned. For a pigmentation laser treatment, any atypical or undiagnosed pigmented lesion must be assessed before treatment. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, non-essential aesthetic treatments are postponed as a precaution.
After laser treatment, the instructions depend on the laser used and the area treated. Strict sun protection is recommended after laser treatments, with sun exposure avoided wherever possible. Irritating products or harsh treatments should be avoided until the skin has fully recovered. Any redness, swelling or crusting should not be scratched. Detailed instructions on care and on how to protect from the sun are given after the session.
The result depends on the type of laser and the indication. After vascular laser, the treated small vessels gradually fade. After pigmentation laser, spots may temporarily darken before lightening. After hair removal laser, the reduction in hair growth appears gradually over sessions. With the Erbium glass laser, improvement in skin quality and texture builds up gradually over weeks and months.
The sensation depends on the laser, the area and individual sensitivity. A feeling of warmth, prickling or small snapping on the skin may be felt during the session. A cooling system may improve comfort. A numbing cream or local anaesthesia may be offered when needed.
Yes. As with any treatment that uses light energy, laser can exceptionally cause hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, particularly after sun exposure or in people with darker skin phototypes. The choice of laser and settings must therefore be adapted to skin phototype and the area treated. It is essential to protect from the sun rigorously before and after treatment.
Scars are rare when treatment is carried out with suitable settings and in good conditions. The risk depends in particular on the type of laser, the depth of treatment, skin phototype and skin history. A secondary infection or poor healing may increase this risk.
Hair removal laser provides a lasting and significant reduction in hair growth, but it cannot guarantee that every hair will disappear permanently. Some follicles may remain active or be reactivated over time, particularly under the influence of hormonal factors. Maintenance sessions may therefore be needed.
